International Collaboration and Engagement (ICE) unit recently welcomed three international delegations from Oman, China, and India, reinforcing the University’s efforts to broaden global academic partnerships and create new opportunities for collaboration in education, research, and student mobility in June 2026.
The series of visits began with a delegation from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST), Sultanate of Oman, led by Vice Chancellor Dr. Ali Bin Saud Al Bimani. The delegation was received by Vice President of Student Experience and Entrepreneurship Development, Professor Ir. Dr. Zulfadzli Yusoff, together with MMU’s senior management. Both institutions exchanged information on their academic strengths and discussed prospective collaboration in areas including a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), joint research, internships, academic exchanges, and mobility programmes.
MMU also welcomed Vice President Dr. Li Yong Qiang and representatives from Guilin Tourism University (GLTU), China. The delegation met with Vice President of Market Exploration, Engagement and Touchpoint, Professor Ts. Dr. Lau Siong Hoe, to explore collaborative opportunities in AI+ and ASEAN tourism education, interdisciplinary talent development, student and staff mobility, and future research initiatives.
The international engagements concluded with a visit from Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (Dr. AIT), Bengaluru, India, led by Dr. M. Mahadeva, Honorary Managing Director of the Institute’s Trustee. Discussions centred on postgraduate education, international student mobility, joint research and publications, as well as academic and staff exchange programmes.
During their respective visits, all three delegations toured MMU’s campus, including its academic facilities, innovation laboratories, Smart Farm, and learning spaces, gaining first-hand insights into the University’s academic ecosystem and research capabilities.
The visits provided a valuable platform for strengthening institutional relationships and identifying new avenues for collaboration. Through continued engagement with international partners, MMU remains focused on creating meaningful opportunities that enrich teaching and learning, advance research, and enhance the University’s global presence.
