On 17 June 2026, MMU contingent led by Prof. Ir. Dr. Zulfadzli Yusoff, Vice President of Student Experience and Entrepreneurship Development (SEED), participated in the Majlis Sambutan Maal Hijrah 1448H/2026M at Masjid Putra, Putrajaya. The MMU contingent comprised 30 students and 18 staff members from both campuses, joining thousands of Malaysians in commemorating the beginning of the Islamic New Year.

The national-level celebration was graced by the Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Nazrin Shah, and carried the theme “MADANI Dihayati, Ummah Diberkati”, which reflects the spirit of Prophet Muhammad’s Hijrah that marked the beginning of Islamic civilisation through the establishment of Madinah. Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Dr. Zulkifli Hasan, together with about 5,000 attendees.

The celebration served as a meaningful platform for MMU staff and students to join fellow Malaysians in observing an important occasion in the Islamic calendar while appreciating the values and teachings associated with the Hijrah journey.
