The Faculty of Management (FOM) recently conducted a series of External Examiner and industry engagement sessions as part of its continuous efforts to enhance academic quality, curriculum relevance, and industry alignment across its programmes.
On 14 May 2026, the Bachelor in Marketing (Honours) programme hosted its External Examiner Panel Visit featuring Dr. Zurina Mohaidin. Led by the programme coordinator, Ms. Yap Yee Yann, the session focused on reviewing and strengthening the programme curriculum, particularly in areas related to academic quality, industry relevance, and current market needs. The visit began with opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Tan Booi Chen, Dean of FOM, followed by a curriculum briefing and discussions involving faculty members and students. Dr. Zurina also delivered a talk titled “Did Consumers Really Choose? Rethinking Decision Making in Marketing,” where she shared practical insights on consumer behaviour, cognitive biases, and purchasing decisions with more than 70 students.
Earlier, on 8 May 2026, the Bachelor of Accounting programme welcomed External Examiner Assoc. Prof. Dr. Noor Adwa from University of Malaya and Industry Advisor Panel member Encik Nik Mahfudz, Vice President Finance at Turnwell Joint Venture, UAE. The session provided a platform to review the programme’s curriculum delivery, assessment practices, industry relevance, and programme outcomes. Discussions also covered student development, employability, emerging accounting trends, and the importance of integrating critical thinking, ethical values, sustainability awareness, and digital competencies into the curriculum. Industry perspectives shared by Encik Nik Mahfudz further highlighted the growing importance of analytical, communication, and technological skills among future accounting graduates.
These engagements reflect the faculty’s ongoing commitment to continuous quality improvement and its efforts in ensuring that its academic programmes remain relevant, industry-responsive, and aligned with current professional and academic expectations.
