MMU participated in the Open Staff Week 2026 organised by RTU Liepāja Academy under the Erasmus+ KA171 international mobility programme, further expanding its international academic engagement in May 2026.
Representing MMU, Mr. Tan Gek Siang, Terence, Deputy Dean of Student Experience and Alumni, Faculty of Business (FOB), joined academics from Portugal, Türkiye, Lithuania, and the Philippines in a series of academic, networking, and intercultural exchange activities. The programme provided opportunities for collaboration, sharing of academic practices, and meaningful engagement with partner institutions.
As part of the programme, Mr. Terence delivered two open lectures, titled “Consumer Behaviour in ASEAN Markets” and “Cultural Intelligence in International Business.” The sessions introduced students to ASEAN consumer trends, multicultural business environments, and digital consumer behaviour, while also highlighting the importance of cultural intelligence in international business.
He also shared insights on the role of the European Union (EU) in ASEAN, particularly in education, regional cooperation, sustainability, economic development, and intercultural collaboration. Students also took part in interactive activities exploring cross-cultural business scenarios and marketing strategies for ASEAN markets.
Beyond the lectures, Mr. Terence engaged in institutional presentations, networking sessions, cultural exchanges, and visits to historical and cultural sites in Latvia, which added to the overall learning experience and intercultural exposure. This engagement further highlights MMU’s ongoing efforts to foster international engagement and strengthen academic ties with universities around the world.
