The Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) successfully organised a strategic workshop on the Refinement of University Spin-Off Guidelines on 8 April 2026 at INNOLab, Cyberjaya campus. The session brought together key stakeholders from across the university ecosystem to strengthen the governance and future direction of staff-led innovation and commercialisation initiatives.

The workshop convened representatives from the Technology Transfer Office (TTO), Legal, Human Capital, TM R&D, and Cnergy, reflecting a cross-functional effort to develop a clear, consistent, and future-ready spin-off framework. The engagement served as a platform to align perspectives and ensure that the guidelines support sustainable innovation while adhering to institutional policies and governance standards.

Discussions focused on refining the end-to-end spin-off process, including ideation, incubation, incorporation, compliance, and exit strategies. Participants also deliberated on the rights and responsibilities of staff involved in spin-off ventures, with emphasis on strengthening governance practices and ensuring alignment with Telekom Malaysia’s Code of Business Ethics.

In her closing remarks, Ms Putri Syaidatul Akma expressed appreciation to all participants for their active contributions and valuable insights throughout the session. She highlighted that the collaborative effort plays a key role in advancing the MORE MMU Key Initiative SE4.2, which aims to cultivate a robust ecosystem for high-value start-ups and university spin-off ventures.

This initiative marks a significant step in positioning the university as a hub for innovation, technology transfer, and sustainable venture creation, reinforcing its commitment to industry-aligned best practices and long-term entrepreneurial impact.
