The 18th edition of Projek Bharani, an outreach initiative led by students of MMU, concluded with a closing ceremony officiated by YB Tuan Kesavan A/L Subramaniam, Member of Parliament for Sungai Siput, Perak on 15 March 2026 at the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Datuk Hj Abdul Wahab.

Also present at the ceremony were Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, MMU President, Prof. Ir. Dr. Zulfadzli Yusoff, Vice President of Student Experience and Entrepreneurship Development alongside school principals, students, and the Student Lifestyle and Experience officers.

Projek Bharani is an annual programme that has been carried out for the past 17 years with the aim of supporting students from B40 communities in rural areas, particularly within the Tamil community, to ensure they are not left behind in their educational journey. The programme focuses on providing exposure, knowledge, and learning support to help students achieve better academic and personal outcomes.

While previous editions primarily focused on Year 6 pupils as preparation for their transition into secondary school, this year’s programme expanded its scope to include Form 5 students. Several new modules were introduced, covering leadership development, character building, financial literacy, exposure to artificial intelligence (AI), and guidance on higher education pathways to help students make more informed decisions after the SPM examination.

This year’s programme also featured several impactful initiatives designed to provide participants not only with inspiration but also with practical guidance and continued support in planning their future.

The ceremony also featured cultural performances, a special montage highlighting the journey of Projek Bharani 18, and a prize-giving session to recognise outstanding participants.

The successful organisation of Projek Bharani 18 reflects the dedication and commitment of the student organising committee, led by Project Director Vishsan A/L Logeswaran, as well as the strong support from MMU, participating schools, and strategic partners in empowering the next generation.
