A group of MBA students from the Faculty of Management (FOM) gained practical industry insights into digital transformation, sustainability leadership and technology-driven innovation through two sharing sessions under the MBA subject Digital Transformation and IT Governance in Modern Enterprise. Both sessions were coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Lilian Anthonysamy.

On 9 December 2025, a talk titled “Sustainability Leadership in Digital Transformation” was delivered by Mr. Ahmad Farouk Ahmad Fauzi, a PETRONAS executive with extensive experience in strategic planning, sustainability and corporate transformation. The session provided students with valuable insights into how organisations manage digitalisation, strengthen IT governance frameworks, and balance innovation with accountability and risk management.

Drawing from real-world industry experiences across diverse sectors, Mr. Farouk shared practical examples of how modern enterprises embed sustainability principles, lead organisational change, and make responsible digital decisions in increasingly data-driven environments. The session enhanced students’ understanding of leadership capabilities required to navigate digital transformation while managing risks and governance challenges.

This learning experience was further strengthened through an industry guest lecture titled “Empowering the Agriculture Sector with Digital AgTech Adoption”, delivered by Ts. Navin Sinnathamby, Head of Department, Digital Agriculture Technology (AgTech) at the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) on 16 December 2025. The lecture highlighted national Digital AgTech initiatives aimed at addressing challenges related to productivity, food security and economic sustainability.

The session showcased technology-driven projects such as smart fertigation, smart soil monitoring, smart aquaculture, smart water monitoring and smart poultry systems, illustrating how digital solutions are being implemented through public-sector–driven innovation.

Together, these sessions provided MBA students with meaningful exposure to the intersection of digital transformation, IT governance, sustainability and industry practice, effectively linking classroom concepts with real-world implementation and industry-engaged learning.
