As part of the University Social Responsibility (USR) initiative, seven students and six staff members from the Faculty of Business (FOB) participated in an educational visit to the Tzu Chi Education and Recycling Centre in Ayer Keroh, Melaka. The visit, organised by Mdm. Kerk Peck Hoon, aimed to promote greater environmental awareness and sustainable living practices among the MMU community in October 2025.
During the visit, participants were introduced to the 5R Principles (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, and Recycle) and explored exhibition spaces that highlighted global environmental challenges and the importance of responsible consumption. They also took part in hands-on recycling activities, such as sorting paper waste and learning proper disposal methods, which provided practical insight into effective waste management.
The session concluded with a reflection on how the principles of a circular economy can be applied in daily life. The experience encouraged participants to rethink their consumption habits and commit to more sustainable practices. This initiative underscores MMU’s ongoing efforts to foster environmental stewardship and strengthen collaborative ties with community partners like the Tzu Chi Foundation.
