On 17 September 2025, the Faculty of Applied Communication (FAC) has made history with the official launch of four new courses during The Big Reveal event at the Cyberjaya campus, a milestone that positions MMU at the forefront of communication education in Malaysia.

With this bold move, MMU proudly becomes the first university in Malaysia and among government-linked universities, to introduce Mobile Journalism, Sustainability Communication and Financial Communication into both its Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree programmes, alongside a fully upgraded Brand Communication course.

This landmark achievement cements FAC’s reputation as a trailblazer in reimagining communication education for the future. The new courses are designed to bridge academia with industry by equipping students with cutting-edge skills: credible mobile content management, authentic brand and sustainability storytelling and the ability to translate financial data into meaningful narratives.

Dean of FAC, Dr. Mokhtaruddin Ahmad, hailed the launch as a historic step for MMU, describing it as a turning point. He emphasised that by pioneering these courses, FAC is shaping the next generation of communicators to be not only industry-ready but also industry-leading, positioning the faculty at the forefront for others to follow. The launch event featured the dramatic unveiling of the courses, a vibrant Q&A session with faculty and students and a celebratory finale, marking a proud chapter in MMU’s journey as Malaysia’s Talentbank 6-Star Rating Communication and Broadcasting faculty.

Truly, a historic moment for MMU.
