On 28 July 2025, the Converged Telecommunications Policy and Regulations (CTPR) Masterclass returned this year with an expanded format to accommodate increasing participation from ASEAN and beyond. Held at Zenith Hotel, Putrajaya, the 2025 edition marks a significant milestone as the programme is delivered in two separate cohorts for the first time.
Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of MMU, delivered a warm welcoming address, while Mr. Abdul Karim Fakir Ali, Managing Director of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), officiated the opening ceremony. Participants also had the opportunity to hear a special address by Mr. Julian Gorman, Head of Asia Pacific at GSMA, during the event.
Cohort 1 ran from 28 July to 1 August 2025, while Cohort 2 is scheduled from 6 to 10 October 2025. The expansion aims to cater to the rising demand for professional development in digital policy and regulatory frameworks across the region. Jointly organised by MCMC, MMU, and GSMA, with support from MMU Cnergy, the Masterclass continues to serve as a regional initiative to strengthen policy and regulatory capacity in a fast-evolving digital ecosystem.
Carrying the theme “The Age of Intelligent Connectivity: 5G, AI, Security & Sustainability”, this year’s programme features expert-led sessions and discussions on topics such as AI governance, Open RAN, 6G and satellite technologies, cybersecurity, spectrum management, and sustainability in digital development. The programme also includes an industry site visit to provide practical exposure for participants.
The Masterclass is recognised for its professional value, offering Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points by the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT), along with potential credit transfer of up to 30% through APEL(C) for MMU’s Master’s in CTPR.
Since its inception in 2015, the CTPR Masterclass has benefited over 300 professionals, serving as a trusted platform that supports knowledge exchange, regional collaboration, and innovation in telecommunications policy and regulation. For more information about this programme, you may click here.
