Muhammad Faris Fiqran Bin Muhamad, a final-year Virtual Reality student from the Faculty of Creative Multimedia (FCM), was selected as one of only 15 students worldwide to attend the prestigious Gobelins Summer School in Real-Time Animation with Unreal Engine. The fully sponsored programme, organised by the Embassy of France, was held from 30 June to 11 July 2025 at Gobelins, Paris.
Gobelins, located in the heart of Paris, is internationally recognised as one of the top institutions for animation and visual arts. Faris was the sole representative from Malaysia, chosen based on a competitive application that included his academic achievements, technical skills in 3D modelling and game development, as well as his CV and a motivational letter.
The scholarship covered tuition fees, accommodation with meals, transportation, and personal allowance. Faris joined fellow participants from countries such as Bahrain, Kyrgyzstan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Sweden, the United States, Nigeria, and China.
During the intensive two-week programme, participants had access to cutting-edge digital facilities at Gobelins. Each student was provided with a dedicated computer equipped with Unity, Blender, and Unreal Engine. Through hands-on workshops, they explored advanced techniques in real-time animation and gained the skills needed to efficiently develop high-quality graphics for games using Unreal Engine.
Faris’s selection and participation mark a significant achievement not only for himself but also for MMU, showcasing the university’s commitment to nurturing talent and global exposure in the creative multimedia field.
Well done, Faris!
