On 23 June 2025, the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Engineering (FAIE), through its Industrial Linkage Committee (ILC), hosted an industry talk featuring Mr. Ong Boon Leong, Principal Software Engineer at Intel, at the Cyberjaya campus. The session brought together FAIE students and staff for an informative sharing on career development, real-world engineering practices, and lessons from the tech industry.

Mr. Ong shared his journey from university life to building a career at Intel, where he has spent over two decades. He spoke about how a strong technical base, teamwork, and problem-solving skills gained during his student days helped shape his engineering mindset and prepared him for the demands of the workplace.

Throughout the talk, Mr. Ong highlighted his career path at Intel, starting from an entry-level role and progressing to his current leadership position. He gave students a closer look at Intel’s work culture, which values innovation, collaboration across teams, and continuous learning. One of the key points he discussed was the importance of bridging hardware and software through effective teamwork in product design and optimisation.

He also spoke about the need to stay adaptable, embrace continuous learning and lead with passion, qualities that are essential in today’s fast-changing tech landscape. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A segment, which helped students better understand real-world industry expectations and how to prepare for their future careers.
