The Faculty of Management (FOM) hosted an industrial visit by Mr. Muhamad Afif Shamri, Senior Economist (External Sector), Economics Department at Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), on 11 June 2025 at the Cyberjayacampus. Mr. Afif is an Industrial Advisory Panel for the Bachelor of Analytical Economics (BAE) programme.
The event began with a warm welcome by Dr. Hasni Mohd Hanafi, Deputy Dean of Academic and Innovative Learning, followed by a presentation on the academic curriculum by Dr. Norhazlin Ismail, BAE Programme Coordinator. The visit provided a valuable platform for meaningful engagement on curriculum relevance, industry expectations, and graduate employability. Mr. Afif shared constructive feedback and thoughtful suggestions to further align the BAE programme with evolving market demands and the growing need for analytical skills in the field of economics. His insights reaffirmed our commitment to continuously enhancing the academic experience and preparing students for the competitive job market.
As part of the visit, Mr. Afif also delivered a highly engaging talk titled “Malaysian Economy: Outlook and Challenges.” He shared expert perspectives on the current economic landscape, sparking insightful discussions among students—particularly on global trade issues and their implications for the Malaysian economy.
Students took full advantage of the session, asking questions and gaining practical understanding of how economic policies and international developments influence national outcomes—bridging classroom theory with real-world application.
Associate Professor Dr. Tan Booi Chen, Dean of the Faculty of Management, and Dr. Abby Ashraff Saprudin, Deputy Dean of Student Experience and Alumni were also present during the exit meeting. The organiser extended gratitude to Mr. Afif for his generous time, continued support, and valuable contributions to the BAE programme.
