We are proud to share that Muhammad Faris Fiqran Muhammad, a student from the Faculty of Creative Multimedia (FCM), for emerging as the champion at The Trophy: The Road to Outstanding Public Speaking for Hopeful Youth, which was held on 17 May 2025. The competition took place at the Harun Aminurrashid College Hall, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Perak.
Faris’s remarkable performance not only earned him the title of champion but also won him the People’s Choice Award, a recognition based on the highest number of audience votes. As the overall champion, Faris received RM1,000 in cash, a trophy, a plaque, and a certificate. In addition, for the People’s Choice Award, he was awarded RM200, a plaque, and a certificate.
The competition involved a multi-stage process designed to test participants’ spontaneity, critical thinking, and public speaking skills. Participants first submitted a video entry online, and those selected among the top 10 proceeded to the next stage of the competition, which was conducted physically. In this stage, participants competed in pairs, with each winner advancing to the top five.
From there, the top five finalists competed individually with different topics to qualify for the top three. In the final round, the top three participants delivered speeches on the same topic. All topics were given on the spot, and each contestant was given only one minute to prepare and four minutes to deliver their speech. The finalists presented their speeches before a distinguished panel of judges, which included notable figures such as Miss World and Miss International titleholders.
As a result of his outstanding performance, Faris Fiqran was crowned the champion of the competition. The first runner-up title was awarded to a postgraduate student from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), while the second runner-up position was claimed by a Zimbabwe student from Lincoln University. This achievement reflects Faris’s outstanding talent in public speaking and the university community is extremely proud of Faris’s success and congratulates him on this well-deserved recognition.
