Students from the Faculty of Information Science & Technology (FIST) secured ninth place in the BlackBerry Capture the Flag (CTF) competition held on 8 May 2025. Representing MMU, Team N3WBEES comprised Muhammad Iffat Hanafiah, Nawfal Syafi’ Zailan, and Muhammad Ariff Ridzlan Mohd Faudzi. The team was mentored by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Ooi Shih Yin.

The competition was organised in conjunction with the first anniversary of the BlackBerry Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (CCoE), Malaysia. It brought together 17 elite teams from 16 local universities to compete in a high-stakes Jeopardy-style CTF challenge.

Organised by BlackBerry CCoE and supported by RE:UN10N, the competition tested participants across a wide spectrum of cybersecurity domains, including web exploitation, forensics, mobile security, reverse engineering, binary exploitation (pwn), and more. The event served as a valuable platform for students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios, benchmark their skills, and grow as a cohesive cybersecurity team.

Well done!
