MMU Celebrates Champions at Sports Appreciation Night 2024

A night of celebration and inspiration, MMU Sports Appreciation Night 2024 was held on 9 May 2025 at Dusit Princess Hotel, Melaka. Organised by the Student Lifestyle & Experience (STyLE) unit, the event honoured the outstanding achievements of MMU athletes and teams who have made the university proud through sports.

The event commenced with a welcoming speech by Prof. Dr. Wong Eng Kiong, Vice President of Student Experience and Entrepreneurship Development (VP SEED) followed by the officiating speech by the guest of honour, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of MMU, who applauded the dedication and spirit of MMU’s sports community.

The night continued with the incentive’s presentations by Pn. Sri Kusumawati Mohd Daud, Director of STyLE and Prof. Ek Wong to individual athletes and teams who had won medals at intervarsity, state, and national competitions. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of incentives to the recipients of the top honours- Best Female Team (MMU Sukipt Chess) , Best Male Team (MMU Sukipt Basketball), Best Sportswoman (awarded to Chua Jia Tien- Chess), and Best Sportsman (awarded to Alang Ariff Aqil – Archery) by MMU President. Alang is currently representing MMU and Malaysia for an international archery tournament in Shanghai.

The night was further enlivened by entertaining performances, a lucky draw session, and the presence of sponsor representatives and MMU management leaders. It was truly a memorable evening that celebrated the resilience, passion, and accomplishments of MMU’s sporting talents.
