MMU and MyIPO Strengthen Collaboration in Intellectual Property Commercialisation

MMU and the Malaysian Intellectual Property Corporation (MyIPO) formalised their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) exchange held in conjunction with the National Intellectual Property Commercialisation Conference and Exhibition (IP Confex) 2026 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur on 7 October 2026.

The MoU was exchanged between Prof. Ts. Dr. Lau Siong Hoe, Vice President of Market Exploration, Engagement and Touchpoint (MEET), MMU, and Yusnieza Syarmila Yusoff, Director General of MyIPO, and witnessed by Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living.

This strategic collaboration marks the beginning of a partnership dedicated to advancing knowledge, innovation and thought leadership at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Intellectual Property (IP).

The collaboration will focus on joint research initiatives, training and capacity building, awareness and knowledge sharing, as well as strengthening industry-academia engagement. Also present at the event were Dr. Hasbollah Mat Saad, Dean of the Faculty of Law, together with faculty members, and Ms. Azimah Abdul Aziz, Director of Government Liaison and Industry Engagement (GLIE).
