MMU, through the Government Liaison and Industry Engagement (GLIE), hosted a delegation from SOC Co., Ltd., Hokkaido, Japan, led by its President, Ms. Asakura Yukiko, at the Cyberjaya campus. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President and CEO of MMU, together with Prof. Ts. Dr. Lau Siong Hoe, Vice President, Market Exploration, Engagement and Touchpoint (MEET), and other MMU representatives.

The discussion centred on several potential areas of collaboration, including the recruitment of Malaysian system engineers, internship opportunities and industry-academia partnerships. Both parties also exchanged views on opportunities to better align industry needs with talent development and provide greater exposure for MMU students to international career opportunities. The engagement also provided a platform for both sides to introduce their respective organisations, learn more about each other’s areas of expertise and interests, and explore potential areas for collaboration.

As part of the visit, the SOC delegation toured several facilities at the Cyberjaya campus, including the FAIE AI Lab and Smart Farming facilities, FCM E-Gallery, FCA Cinema and PIXLJAYA. The visit marked a step towards closer collaboration between MMU and SOC Co., Ltd., particularly in the areas of talent development, recruitment and industry engagement.
