The Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Engineering (FAIE) was honoured to host a distinguished delegation led by Ms. Sun Ruijun, Director-General of the China-ASEAN Technology Transfer Center and the Department of Science and Technology of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The delegation also included representatives from FiberHome and Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). The visit took place on 21 June 2026 at the Cyberjaya campus.
The delegation was welcomed by Prof. Ts. Dr. Lau Siong Hoe, Vice President of Market Exploration, Engagement and Touchpoint (MEET), and Prof. Dr. Ooi Chee Pun, Dean of FAIE. The visit served as a strategic platform to strengthen international partnerships in Artificial Intelligence, intelligent communications, technology transfer, research collaboration, talent development, and innovation. A key highlight of the visit was the sharing session by Ms. Sun Ruijun, who outlined strategic pathways for deepening future collaboration among the participating institutions, emphasising the importance of translating research into real-world impact through innovation, industry engagement, and international cooperation.
The discussions also aligned closely with FAIE’s vision of becoming a leading hub for Applied AI, where cutting-edge research is translated into practical solutions that benefit industry, society, and the digital economy. A further key outcome of the visit was the strengthening of research ties with Prof. Xiaohu Ge, Vice Dean of the School of Electronic Information and Communications at HUST and Director of the National Green Communications and Networking Research Center. The discussions explored potential collaborations in AI-enabled renewable energy-powered telecommunications infrastructure and intelligent network optimisation.
It is hoped that these engagements will lead to meaningful joint research initiatives, technology transfer activities, academic exchanges, and long-term strategic collaborations that will advance Artificial Intelligence, intelligent communications, and sustainable digital technologies across the ASEAN region and beyond.
