Learning Institute for Empowerment (LIfE), in collaboration with students enrolled in courses fields including uniform bodies, performing arts, sports sciences and empowering community, successfully organised the Character Building Carnival 2026 concurrently at both MMU campuses on 24 June 2026.
At the Melaka campus, the carnival was officiated by Prof. Ir. Dr. Zulfadzli Yusoff, Vice President of Student Experience and Entrepreneurship Development (VP SEED). Also present were Prof. Dr. Hishamuddin Ismail, Director of Melaka Campus; Dr. Ong Sue Lyn, Director of LIfE; as well as other MMU officers.
The carnival featured exhibitions by various uniformed bodies and student units, including Angkatan Pertahanan Awam (APM), Wataniah, Clover, Special Needs, and Jabatan Penjara. Their booths attracted enthusiastic visitors and provided valuable insights into their activities, achievements, and contributions to the community.
Adding vibrancy to the event were performances by the champion and first runner-up groups from the Instrument, Theatre, and Dance categories, showcasing students’ creativity and talent. The prize-giving ceremony was also graced by Prof. Ir. Dr. Zulfadzli, who presented awards to the winners. To mark the conclusion of the carnival, students from the Jabatan Penjara course formed a ceremonial parade and escorted the VIP guests from the venue, bringing the event to a memorable close.
Meanwhile, the carnival at the Cyberjaya campus was equally lively, drawing strong participation from students and staff who engaged in various exhibitions, performances, and activities that showcased the values and learning outcomes of the courses. The event was also attended by Mr. Patrick Loke Pak Cheok, founder and trainer of Armstel Academy, who is also the instructor for the Character Building course Performance Mastery. One of the event highlights in Cyberjaya was a unique demonstration by Jabatan Penjara, showcasing the use of the rotan as part of Malaysia’s correctional system.
Overall, the programme served as an effective platform for nurturing discipline, leadership, teamwork, and collaboration among students. Their active involvement throughout the event demonstrated these values in action while providing opportunities to showcase their talents, develop essential skills, and foster holistic personal growth.
