A group of students from the Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FIST), accompanied by their lecturer Ms. Ainee Suriani Bahaman, joined the Zoolunteer Programme at Zoo Melaka on 8 May 2026. The programme was conducted as part of the Personal Social Responsibility subject, giving students the opportunity to experience environmental and community engagement outside the classroom.
During the programme, the students were exposed to the daily responsibilities of zookeepers through activities such as cleaning animal enclosures, preparing food, and feeding the animals. The hands-on experience also allowed them to learn more about animal care, habitats, and behaviour through direct observation.
Apart from gaining new experiences, the programme also encouraged students to develop a greater sense of responsibility, teamwork, and awareness towards environmental and animal welfare issues. The initiative reflects the university’s continuous effort in promoting holistic learning through real-life exposure and community-based activities.
