Two teams from MMU Special Interest Group (SIG) Mooting and FOL delivered impressive performances at the Asia Pacific Vis Pre-Moot (APAC Vis Pre-Moot), a prestigious preparatory competition for the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, recently.
Team 1, comprising Kavinesh Diong Ramachandran, Wan Abdul Azim Wan Faizal, and Ram Varma Sivanantham, demonstrated exceptional advocacy skills, advancing to the Elimination Rounds. Their professionalism and sportsmanship earned them the Colin J. Wall Spirit of the Pre-Moot Award, given to teams that exemplify mooting excellence and collegiality.
Team 2, consisting of Tan Yu Jian, Avilash Murali, and Wong Kai Tong, also delivered a strong performance in the General Rounds, gaining valuable experience in international arbitration proceedings before concluding their competition journey.
Organised by the Asia Pacific Vis Pre-Moot Organising Committee (APVPM), the competition took place across multiple rounds, culminating in the finals at the Borneo International Centre for Arbitration and Mediation (BICAM), Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. The APAC Vis Pre-Moot brings together top law students from across the Asia-Pacific region, providing a platform to refine advocacy skills and deepen understanding of international commercial arbitration, particularly under the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) and arbitration rules.
Well done!
