MMU welcomed its newest cohort of students, with YBhg. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of MMU, addressing them and inspiring them to embrace the opportunities ahead as future digital leaders during a special session held at Dewan Tun Canselor on 3 April 2026. Students from the Melaka campus also joined the session virtually, alongside the university leadership team.
In his address, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham shared MMU’s achievements and development, assuring students that they are now part of a globally ranked university with world-class teaching and learning, a conducive environment, and cutting-edge facilities. He encouraged them to put in their best effort and determination to excel in their studies.
He also highlighted key qualities that will help students succeed at university and beyond. Students are encouraged to be curious, exploring ideas and asking questions to challenge themselves intellectually. They are urged to be courageous by stepping out of their comfort zones, joining clubs, participating in events, volunteering, and taking on leadership roles, as some of the most meaningful experiences often come from unexpected opportunities. Responsibility is equally important, including managing time wisely, respecting others, and upholding integrity and professionalism. Building strong connections with peers, lecturers, and mentors will also help students grow, learn, and reach their full potential.
Over the course of their studies, students are expected to grow both academically and personally, discovering new passions, developing new skills, and even redefining their goals. By the time they graduate, they will leave MMU not only with a degree but also with the confidence, knowledge, and values needed to make a difference in the world.
Prof. Mazliham also officially welcomed students to the Week of Immersion & Networking (WIN) 2026, which runs from 3 to 5 April 2026, describing it as the first of many enriching experiences in their university journey. Students are encouraged to make the most of the programme, build lasting friendships, and seize opportunities to learn and grow.
MMU continues to provide a supportive and dynamic environment where students can develop their digital, creative, and leadership skills, preparing them to become innovative and industry-ready leaders of tomorrow.
