To ensure the programme remains relevant and up to date, the Faculty of Business (FOB) recently hosted an industrial advisory visit and talk at the Melaka Campus, featuring Dr. Yap Lang Ling, Independent Non-Executive Director of Sapura Resources Berhad, recently.

The event began with welcoming remarks from Dr. Siti Zakiah Melatu Samsi, FOB Dean , who provided an overview of the university and faculty, followed by a presentation on the postgraduate programmes by Dr. Mohammad Tariqul Islam Khan, Postgraduate Programme Coordinator. Faculty members and postgraduate students (research) engaged in interactive sessions with Dr. Yap, discussing supervision, learning experiences, and expected research outcomes.

The visit offered a valuable platform for discussion on aligning the curriculum with industry needs, bridging the gap between academic research and practical applications, and exploring pathways for researchers to contribute to industry. Dr. Yap provided constructive feedback and practical suggestions to enhance the programmes, particularly in integrating industry-relevant topics.

The industrial advisor also delivered an industrial talk titled “Brains and Behavior – Scaling Business with Technology and People”. Her engaging presentation explored topics such as the shift from artificial intelligence (AI) to augmented intelligence, the human brain, and the role of psychology in business.

Postgraduate students, both research and mixed mode, actively participated in the hybrid session, asking questions and connecting theoretical concepts to real-world applications. The event was successfully organized by Dr. Lim Kah Boon (Deputy Dean of the Postgraduate and Collaborations), Dr. Mohammad Tariqul Islam Khan (PG Coordinator), and Dr. Lim Ying San (Deputy PG Coordinator). The visit ended with valuable insights into how collaboration between the university and industry can help keep postgraduate programmes relevant and in line with current business needs.
