CMMI Advances Qualitative Research Excellence: “Beyond Numbers” Series Launches with Strong Engagement

The Centre of Excellence (CoE) – Business Innovation and Communication (BIC), under the Centre for Management and Marketing Innovation (CMMI), successfully organised the first session of its Qualitative Research Series titled “Beyond Numbers: Mastering the Foundations of Qualitative Research (Part 1)” on 14 April 2026. The workshop was led by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Lilian Anthonysamy, Chairperson of CMMI, and supported by Dr. Yeo Sook Fern, Director of CoE–BIC, as well as Dr. Stany, Co-Chair of CMMI.

Featuring Ts. Dr. Anusuyah Subbarao as the invited speaker, provided an engaging and insightful exploration of the core principles underpinning qualitative research. It was well attended by postgraduate students and researchers, reflecting strong interest in strengthening methodological rigour beyond quantitative approaches.

Participants were introduced to foundational concepts, research design considerations, and the philosophical underpinnings of qualitative inquiry, all of which are critical for producing impactful and publication-ready research. The Qualitative Research Series marks another strategic effort by CMMI to broaden research capabilities within MMU, encouraging interdisciplinary thinking and deeper analytical perspectives in academic scholarship.
