On 6 February 2026, Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Ooi Shih Yin, Director of the Technology Transfer Office (TTO), together with TTO staff, represented the University at the MyIPO Engagement Programme with Innovation and Commercialisation Centres of Higher Education Institutions, held in Petaling Jaya.

Chaired by the Director General of the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO), Puan Yusnieza Syarmila Yusoff, the session focused on current trends in university intellectual property (IP) ownership, as well as key issues and challenges in IP management and commercialisation.

The engagement provided TTO with updated insights into national IP policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices in IP governance. These insights will support the University in strengthening its IP management framework, enhancing support for researchers and innovators, and improving the commercialisation potential of MMU’s research outputs.

The session also facilitated knowledge sharing and networking among higher education institutions, contributing to coordinated efforts to strengthen the national intellectual property ecosystem in line with the objectives of the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13). The programme contributes to MMU’s continuous improvement in managing and commercialising research outputs.
