MMU through its Faculty of Management (FOM) in collaboration with Pertubuhan Ikatan Wanita Prihatin (PWIP), successfully concluded Projek Telekung 2026, a charitable initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable communities in Kelantan.
Led by FOM staff members Puan Hamsatulazura Hamzah, Puan Zarehan Selamat, Puan Rapiah Mohd Zaini, Puan Noor Shahaliza Othamd, and Puan Nor Hazleza Mohamad, the month-long telekung donation drive was carried out from 1 January to 1 February 2026. The initiative collected prayer garments for distribution to single mothers, fakir miskin, and asnaf families residing in Dewan Undangan Negeri Apam Putra, Kelantan, an area frequently affected by floods.
The official handover ceremony was held on 16 February 2026 at Dewan Undangan Negeri Apam Putra and was attended by YB Zamakhshari Muhammad, ADUN Apam Putra and a member of the Kelantan State Executive Council. He witnessed the presentation of donations to the beneficiaries and commended the collaborative effort between the university and the non-governmental organisation.
More than 30 families benefited from the initiative, receiving essential items and much-needed support. The project not only addressed immediate necessities but also strengthened community bonds and demonstrated the positive impact of partnerships between academic institutions and civil society.
A representative from FOM highlighted that Projek Telekung 2026 reflects the faculty’s firm commitment to social responsibility and community care. Through its close collaboration with PWIP, the faculty aims to continue empowering families in need while fostering resilience in flood-affected areas.
YB Zamakhshari Muhammad also described the initiative as a meaningful example of how institutions and NGOs can work together to serve the community. He noted that Projek Telekung 2026 has brought hope and dignity to families facing hardship and expressed appreciation to MMU and PWIP for their dedication to the community.
Through this initiative, FOM reaffirmed its commitment to University Social Responsibility (USR) by extending meaningful support to communities in need and nurturing a culture of compassion and service among its staff.
Well done!
