Industry Engagement Strengthens Accounting Programme

The Faculty of Business (FOB), through its Diploma in Accounting programme, recently coordinated an industrial advisor visit by Mr. Gan Chee Kian (Ryan), Asia Pacific Finance Service Delivery Director of Estée Lauder Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.

Mr. Ryan, an alumnus from the Class of 2002, shared his professional experience in managing regional finance service delivery operations. He highlighted current industry expectations, digital transformation in finance functions, and the evolving competencies required of accounting graduates. He also delivered an industrial talk to students titled “How to Be Outstanding at Work,” in which he emphasised professionalism, adaptability, communication skills, and continuous learning as key factors for career success.

A discussion with academic staff further focused on curriculum relevance, employability skills, and strengthening practical and industry-based learning. The visit reinforced strong academia–industry engagement and supports the continuous enhancement of the programme to ensure alignment with professional and industry needs.
