Students from the Faculty of Management (FOM) recently visited the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) in Kuala Lumpur for an engagement session designed to bring the world of global banking closer to campus. The visit offered students a chance to see how financial services operate in real-world settings and understand the skills needed to thrive in the industry.

During the session, students joined a leadership-sharing forum with RBC executives, including Mr Jack Tang, Managing Director and Deputy CFO for APAC; Mr Rahul Sureka, Director and Head of Product Control and COE Business for Global Credit; Mr Amit Khanna, Director of Global Risk Oversight and A&O; Ms Sheela Jenarathanan, Head of HR and Talent Acquisition for Malaysia; and Mr Zeeshan Syed, Vice President and Head of RBC Enterprise Control Testing. The leaders offered practical insights into governance, risk management, talent development, and leadership expectations in a global financial environment.

On top of that, MMU Permata Dunia alumni, Mr Rashad Zainal and Mr Kuhaneswaran, who are now serving at the company, also shared their career journeys, giving students a realistic view of the transition from university to professional roles and how to navigate the workplace.

The engagement was made possible with the support of Ms Fatin Zaida Zaidi, Mr Alvis Chan, Ms Nurul Atiah, Dr Tim Tan Chi Hau, and the MMU Career Connect team, with coordination by RBC HR intern Mr Zaieff Danial. Students left the session with a deeper understanding of the financial sector, practical career advice, and connections that could shape their future pathways.
