In today’s business landscape, environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations play an increasingly important role in shaping organisational priorities. As shared during the recent Bersama GCEO session on 8 January 2026, TM has been recognised by the UN Global Compact Network Malaysia & Brunei (UNGCMYB) as a 3-Star Lister on the ESG Select List. This marks TM’s first inclusion on the ESG Select List as a digital infrastructure company.
TM R&D contributed to this recognition through the Smart Urban Forestry project, developed in collaboration with Credence and supported by a purposeful partnership with the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM). The project received a Gold Star under the Purposeful Partnership category, recognising efforts to further develop an AI-enabled tool in support of climate and biodiversity action.
The Smart Urban Forestry initiative applies AI and data-driven capabilities to enhance the monitoring and management of urban forest ecosystems. The tool supports evidence-based decision-making for environmental conservation, contributing to climate resilience, biodiversity protection and sustainable urban planning.
This recognition underscores the importance of research excellence, cross-disciplinary collaboration and strategic partnerships in advancing TM’s sustainability agenda.
Congratulations!
