A group of students from Melaka campus visited the MFA Animal Shelter on 14 January 2026 as part of the Fundamentals of Business Management course, coordinated by Mdm Kerk Peck Hoon. The visit exposed students to social responsibility through direct engagement with real-life issues faced by stray animals. Students also contributed donations, including dog food, rice, and canned food, in support of the shelter’s operations.

During the visit, the MFA Chairman shared the realities of animal rescue work, highlighting the time, financial commitment, and risks involved in caring for stray dogs. Students learned that many of the animals had been abandoned, injured, or traumatised, and that rebuilding their trust in humans requires sustained effort. The discussion also addressed the dangers of irresponsible waste disposal, including how sharp objects and discarded cans can cause serious harm to stray animals.

The students later spent time interacting with the dogs at the shelter, observing their cautious behaviour and gradual responses to human presence. The experience prompted moments of reflection among the students, many of whom were visibly affected. Such initiatives encourage the public to show greater compassion towards stray animals, promote environmental responsibility, and raise awareness of the importance of speaking up for those without a voice.
