The Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) held two Alumni Sharing Sessions featuring alumni who returned to share their academic and industry experiences with current students in November 2025

Mr. Lim Yun Ler, a 2024 graduate of the Bachelor of Electronics Engineering (Hons.) Robotics and Automation programme. Mr. Lim, who is currently a Graduate Research Assistant at TM R&D and pursuing his Master of Engineering Science (by Research) shared his experience in completing a Grade-A Final Year Project (FYP). He outlined the key stages of the FYP process, including topic selection, research and planning, design and development work, testing and troubleshooting, and preparation of the final report and presentation. He also highlighted the importance of good time management, clear documentation, and the use of data-driven visuals to enhance presentations. Mr. Lim concluded by explaining how his FYP journey influenced his decision to pursue further studies and shaped his career direction.

Another session featured Mr. Alex Er Qin Wei, a 2020 graduate of the same programme and currently a Senior Test Engineer – High Side and Low Side Power Switch at Infineon Technologies, Melaka. His session, titled “How well prepared are you to be a REAL engineer?”, focused on the essential technical and soft skills needed in the engineering field. Mr. Alex emphasised fundamentals such as programming, data analysis, Agile project management, and design, alongside communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and time management. He also conducted a hands-on critical thinking activity using two real engineering scenarios, where students worked in groups to analyse the problems and present their findings.

Both sessions provided practical guidance and first-hand insights for FET students, while reinforcing the value of alumni engagement in supporting student learning and professional development.
