A talk entitled “Insights on Monetary Policymaking” was jointly organised by the Faculty of Management and Centre for Alumni (CfA) in November 2025 at the Cyberjaya campus. Featuring Mr. Mohd Helmi Ramlee, a pioneering graduate of the Analytical Economics programme (Class of 2006) and currently Deputy Director at the Monetary Policy Department, Bank Negara Malaysia, overseeing the Balance Payments, Exchange Rate and Markets, as well as the Research and Modelling units.
The session was attended by students from the Bachelor of Analytical Economics programme, gaining first-hand perspectives on the workings of central bank monetary policy. Mr. Helmi shared his expertise on contemporary issues, including the recently signed Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) between Malaysia and the United States during the ASEAN Summit 2025, providing students with timely and practical insights.
Drawing from over 20 years of experience at Bank Negara Malaysia, Mr. Helmi inspired students by recounting his professional journey and highlighting his dedication to serving society and the nation. His sharing not only offered valuable lessons on life beyond university but also encouraged students to reflect on their future career paths and the broader impact they can make on society.
The event was also graced by Professor Dr. Tan Siow Hooi, Director of MMU Press; En. Baktiar Hasnan from the Centre for Alumni; and Dr. Norhazlin Ismail, Programme Coordinator for the Bachelor of Analytical Economics.
