The inaugural Nexus Symposium or known as NexSymp 2025 kicked off at the Cyberjaya campus, marking a significant milestone for the university. The two-day event, held from 11 to 12 September 2025 and officiated by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of MMU, brought together researchers, academics, students, and international collaborators to exchange ideas, showcase achievements, and advance impactful research across multiple disciplines.
Jointly organised by MMU Press and the IEEE MMU Student Branch, NexSymp 2025 was supported by eight journals and covered domains including Arts & Humanities, Science & Technology, Social Sciences, Information Technology, Creative Multimedia, and Interdisciplinary studies. The symposium attracted 248 paper submissions and about 100 participants, reflecting strong interest from researchers worldwide.
In his address, Prof. Mazliham underlined the importance of the symposium and reaffirmed MMU’s commitment to fostering industry-driven research that brings meaningful impact to society. The hybrid event also welcomed global partners from India, Pakistan, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom (UK), alongside representatives from local universities.
Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, undergraduate student societies set up booths at the Digital Theatre to showcase their initiatives. Among them were the IEEE Student Branch, Cyberjaya Accounting Club (CAC), IT Society MMU Cyberjaya, and the Communication Society (COMSOC).

In conjunction with NexSymp 2025, the Faculty of Creative Multimedia (FCM) launched its postgraduate exhibition, “Unlock Reverberate”, at the FCM e-Gallery. The exhibition highlights the creativity and innovation of postgraduate talents, reflecting their readiness to shape Malaysia’s creative industry. The event was also attended by Mr. Mohd Nizam Razak, the Adjunct Professor of the FCM, Ms. Nadia Mahmud, FCM Dean, faculty members and students.
The three-week event features inspiring talks, workshops, and screenings, providing a platform for students to present their final year projects while highlighting their creativity, innovation, and dedication. Prof. Mazliham expressed his appreciation to the dean, faculty members, students, and industry partners for their hard work and support in making the showcase a success.
Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham also emphasised FCM’s role in shaping the creative industry, noting its contribution in producing outstanding alumni who have become key players locally and globally. Paying tribute to the late Prof. Datuk Ts. Dr. Ahmad Rafi Mohamed Eshaq, former MMU President, Prof. Mazliham acknowledged his immense contribution in building MMU into a centre of excellence. He added that the legacy of Prof. Rafi continues to inspire FCM students. The launch concluded with a celebration of the graduates’ achievements and their potential to drive the creative industry forward as MMU’s Permata Dunia.
