A group of students from the Faculty of Cinematic Arts (FCA) participated in a special workshop led by Japanese filmmaker Uesugi Tetsuya, alongside fellow university students, in conjunction with the Japanese Film Festival (JFF) 2025.

FCA students Haevindhran Pillay, Chai Xin Jie, Keagan Shiva, Rebecca Khoo, and Leong Hui Er, under the supervision of lecturer Hashimah Abdullah and FCA alumnus Wong Tuck Hon, were tasked with producing a three-minute short film. Their work was proudly premiered at the festival’s opening ceremony, which was also attended by Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Minister of Communication together with Datuk Hans Isaac, Chairman of FINAS at GSC Mid Valley Megamall.

The Japanese Film Festival 2025 runs from 10 September until 19 October 2025 at GSC cinemas nationwide, giving audiences the opportunity to celebrate the richness of Japanese cinema and its cultural influence.

Well done!
