A strategic partnership was formalised between MMU and Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan (AZUJ) through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) at the Cyberjaya campus on 13 August 2025. The pact was signed by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President and CEO of MMU, and Prof. Tareq Musbah Al-Qirim, Vice President of AZUJ, who joined the ceremony virtually. The event was also attended by His Excellency Mohamad Nasri Abdul Rahman, Ambassador of Malaysia to Jordan and Palestine, as well as representatives from both institutions.

The collaboration, established under the Matching Grant Collaboration Initiative, will see both universities contributing equally to funding joint research projects. This initiative enables researchers and students from both sides to combine expertise, share resources, and utilise facilities to produce impactful outcomes.

It also aims to address shared academic and societal challenges while fostering stronger institutional ties and advancing innovation. It is hoped that this partnership will spark long-term academic growth, raise the profile of research, and create meaningful contributions for communities both locally and internationally. Also attending were Dr. Sufian Mousa Ibrahim Mithani, Director of Client Engagement Academia, TMR&D, Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohammad Faizal Ahmad Fauzi, Director of Research Management, and other MMU officers.
