On 21 August 2025, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) welcomed its second Industrial Advisory Panel (IAP) Visit to the Melaka campus. The visit served as an important platform for the faculty to gather feedback from industry experts, ensuring that its academic programmes remain relevant, industry-aligned, and responsive to future workforce needs.
Seven industry leaders, namely Dr. Chin Wai Meng, Deputy General Manager of Daikin Research & Development Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.; Mr. Syahril bin M. Azmi, Senior Vice President of Honda Assembly (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.; Ir. Goh Su Kin, Chief Engineer of Prosper Capital Holdings Sdn. Bhd.; Ir. Dr. Lim Chot Hun, Chief Executive Officer of BPE Synergy Engineering Sdn. Bhd.; Mr. Ong Kun Xiong, Senior Manager of Infineon Technologies Malaysia; Mr. Muslim Abdullah Zaik, Group Chief Executive Officer of Aeronerve; and Tc. Mohamad Nor Zikree bin Mohamad Yusof, Project Delivery Engineer of TM Technology Services Sdn. Bhd., attended the visit and contributed their perspectives to strengthen the faculty’s academic and industry linkages. The visit was received by FET Deputy Deans namely Ir. Ts. Dr. Noor Ziela Binti Abd Rahman and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Liew Kia Wai together with the presence of the programme coordinators.
In conjunction with the visit, three industrial talks were organised, attracting more than 80 participants from FET’s Bachelor’s degree and Diploma programmes. The first talk was delivered by Ir. Dr. Lim Chot Hun, who spoke on The Semiconductor Industry and The Automatic Test Equipment (ATE). This was followed by Tc. Mohamad Nor Zikree bin Mohamad Yusof, who shared insights on Current Trends in Fibre To The Home (FTTH) Broadband Technology. The final session was presented by Dr. Chin Wai Meng, who discussed Sustainability in HVAC.
The talks offered students valuable knowledge of emerging technologies and real-world engineering practices. Beyond technical exposure, the sessions also highlighted the importance of employability skills and industry readiness, ensuring that FET graduates are well-prepared to embark on their future careers.
