In an inspiring showcase of academic collaboration and community impact, two lecturers from the Faculty of Management (FOM), Dr. Mohd Fairuz Abd Rahim and Ms. Diyana Binti Abdul Mahad were invited as trainers for Projek MULA (Micro-Entrepreneurship for Local Empowerment of Asnaf), a community service initiative led by final-year MBA students from UKM Graduate School of Business (UKM-GSB).
Projek MULA aimed to empower selected Asnaf participants through structured entrepreneurship training, mentorship, and digital enablement. Dr. Fairuz facilitated Workshop 1: Introduction to Business & Entrepreneurship at Pusat Sebaran Maklumat Nasional (NaDi) Bandar Tasik Kesuma, while Ms. Diyana conducted Workshop 2: Digital & Marketing Skills in July 2025. Both sessions were highly interactive and designed to equip participants with practical tools and mindset shifts essential for small business growth in the digital age.
The programme was concluded with a pitching session and closing ceremony, which was held at UKM-GSB, Bangi Campus where participants showcased their business models to a panel comprising mentors and representatives from TERAS and Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) on 6 August 2025. The Projek MULA collaboration highlights FOM’s commitment to University Social Responsibility (USR) and continuous community engagement. This collaboration was made possible by UKM-GSB project advisor, Dr. Mara Ridhuan Che Abdul Rahman, and MULA Minds Director, Ms. Auni Kamalia Faridz.
