On 12 August 2025, the Faculty of Business (FOB) welcomed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ida Md Yasin from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), the external examiner for the International Business programme at the Melaka campus.

Dr. Ida was received by the faculty’s leadership team, including Dr. Siti Zakiah Melatu Samsi, Dean of FOB, together with the deputy deans, as well as the International Business unit led by Dr. Chow Mei Min and other faculty members. The visit focused on discussions surrounding academic assurance, curriculum enhancement, and strategies to further enrich the student learning experience.

As part of the visit, staff and students attended an engaging talk by Dr. Ida titled “From Open Markets to Protectionism: Evaluating U.S. Tariffs.” Drawing on her expertise, she examined the evolving dynamics of global trade and the economic and political factors shaping U.S. tariff policies. The session prompted active participation from the audience and offered fresh insights into the challenges and opportunities in the international business landscape.

Overall, the visit underscored the university’s commitment to continuous improvement and international collaboration, ensuring its programmes remain relevant, competitive, and aligned with global industry needs.
