A Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was organised under the project “Muslim Women Entrepreneurial Success: An Investigation into Malaysian Micro and Small Enterprises”, funded by the FISABILILLAH R&D Grant Scheme (FRDGS) through Tabung Amanah Zakat MMU. The session, coordinated by Dr. Farha Zafira Agos Lokman, was held at the Siri Lab, Cyberjaya campus, on 7 August 2025.
As part of the project’s Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP), the session brought together 16 Muslim women entrepreneurs from diverse industries and the KTP research team led by Prof. Dr. Chong Chin Wei. It provided a platform for participants to share their experiences, challenges, and success factors in running micro, small and medium enterprises (MSEs), offering valuable perspectives to strengthen the project’s findings.
Through this initiative, the KTP seeks to identify the elements that drive entrepreneurial success, examine the barriers faced by Muslim women entrepreneurs, and propose recommendations to encourage greater participation in entrepreneurship. The programme began with a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Chong, followed by an inspiring talk entitled “Entrepreneurship in the Real World – Lessons from Experience” delivered by Mrs. Fatin Fatinah Binti Molhit, Director of Molhit Pack Sdn. Bhd.
This was followed by a presentation by Dr. Farha Zafira on the preliminary research findings, which set the stage for the FGD where participants shared valuable insights drawn from their entrepreneurial journeys. To commemorate the occasion, Dr. Yeo Sook Fern, Director of the Centre of Excellence for Business Innovation and Communication, presented tokens of appreciation to all participants. The project team expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn from the experiences of these remarkable women and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting and empowering Muslim women entrepreneurs in their business pursuits.
Well done!
