It was a historic milestone for the university when YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim officiated the launch of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Engineering (FAIE), held in conjunction with Temu Anwar@MMU at the Cyberjaya campus on 18 August 2025.
The ceremony was also graced by the presence of Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, Minister of Higher Education; Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Minister of Communications; Tuan Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Digital; Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Chief Secretary to the Government; Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din, Chairman of MCMC; YBhg. Dato’ Zainal Abidin Putih, Chairman of TM; En. Amar Huzaimi Md Deris, Group CEO of TM; En. Ahmad Taufek Omar, Chairman of MMU Board of Directors; Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of MMU; and other distinguished guests from ministries and government agencies.
An MoU exchange was also witnessed by the Prime Minister between MMU and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to establish the AI Transformation Centre (AIX), a RM37 million initiative featuring 13 advanced laboratories to support innovation, industry collaboration, SME development, and rural empowerment. The MoU was exchanged between Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din, Chairman of MCMC, and Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President of MMU.
MMU President Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham highlighted FAIE’s role in producing industry-ready graduates, while TM Group CEO Amar Huzaimi emphasised MMU’s contribution as its education arm in shaping Malaysia’s digital future. The event also underscored the strong support of 40 strategic industry partners who will collaborate with FAIE to nurture AI talent and strengthen Malaysia’s competitiveness in the digital era.
Attended by more than 3,000 students, the Temu Anwar@MMU session served as an exclusive platform for MMU students to engage in an open dialogue on their role in building an AI-driven Malaysia. The launch of FAIE and AIX demonstrates the university’s strong commitment to driving Malaysia’s AI growth through education, research, and close industry collaboration. With the support of its partners, MMU will continue to nurture future innovators and make the benefits of AI more accessible to communities across the nation.
