Andrew Tang Jia Hong, a Foundation in Business student from the Faculty of Business (FOB) has achieved remarkable success in Taekwon-Do competitions held recently. In June, Andrew competed at the 5th MTF National Championship 2025, which took place at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), Kajang.

The event was organised by Persatuan Taekwon-Do Negeri Selangor ITF-MTF and gathered more than 1,100 participants from across Malaysia. Andrew took home a gold medal in Sparring (1st–3rd Dan Heavyweight, 65.1–73kg) and a silver medal in Pattern (2nd Dan). In the sparring event, he defeated strong competitors from Perak, Putrajaya, Penang, and Johor, showing great skill and determination.

Andrew also competed in the Kejohanan Taekwon Do (ITF) Tertutup Melaka 2025. This state-level championship was organised by Persatuan Taekwon Do Melaka ITF MTF at SJK(C) Chung Kuo in Melaka. He won two gold medals in the Male 13-and-above category, one in Individual Pattern (2nd Dan) and another in Individual Sparring (1st–2nd Dan). These wins showed his excellent technique and strong focus in May 2025.

Earlier in the same month, Andrew took part in the Kejohanan Taekwon Do (MGTF) Tertutup Negeri Melaka at SJK(C) Keh Seng, Bukit Baru, Melaka. This event was organised by the Malacca Taekwon-Do Association (GTF) and brought together top athletes from the region. Andrew achieved an impressive three gold medals in different events: Male Team Pattern Black Belt (1st–3rd Dan), Individual Male Sparring Black Belt (1st–3rd Dan), and Individual Male Pattern Black Belt (2nd Dan). Official records showed that he topped the individual sparring and pattern divisions.

Overall, Andrew’s hard work and dedication led him to win six gold medals and one silver medal in just one month. His achievements have brought great pride to MMU and the Taekwon-Do community. Well done, Andrew!
