The Faculty of Management (FOM) successfully conducted a series of impactful Design Thinking workshops as part of its Knowledge Transfer Programme and University Social Responsibility (USR) initiative. A total of 150 students from three prominent secondary schools participated in these sessions.
The first workshop, titled Sepang Young Innovators: Design & Tech Challenge, was held on 7 July 2025 and involved students from SMK Cyberjaya. The second workshop, Creative Minds@Sepang: Design Thinking for SMK Putra Perdana, took place on 9 July 2025. The final session, Future Creators Camp: Design & Technology for Sekolah Seri Puteri, was conducted on 16 July 2025 and hosted at MMU’s Faculty of Management.
Led by a passionate team comprising Ms Norzarina Md Yatim, Dr. Abd Aziz Ahmad, Dr Abby Ashraff, Ms Nur Syamimi Houd, Ms Noor Shahaliza, and Ms Nor Hazleza. The workshops introduced students to the Design Thinking process—a human-centered approach to problem-solving that fosters creativity, empathy, and innovation.
Throughout the sessions, students explored real-world challenges and applied design thinking skills to develop meaningful solutions. Activities included brainstorming, prototyping, and presenting ideas, all aimed at nurturing critical thinking and collaborative learning.
Students expressed excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the fun and creative activities and the new way of thinking that made them confident in sharing ideas and working with others.
Teachers praised the initiative for its hands-on approach and relevance to 21st-century skills. MMU’s team noted the students’ enthusiasm and engagement, highlighting the importance of bridging academia with school communities to foster innovation from a young age. This initiative marks another milestone in MMU’s commitment to nurturing future-ready learners and strengthening ties with local educational institutions.
