MMU celebrates another milestone in research excellence at the International Invention, Innovation, Technology Competition & Exhibition (ITEX) 2025, held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from 29–30 May 2025. All MMU research projects submitted to this prestigious event were recognised, bringing home an impressive total of 12 awards: 6 Gold, 5 Silver, and 1 Bronze.

This year’s ITEX featured nearly 900 inventions spanning 15 diverse classifications, including agriculture, environment, digital solutions, and Artificial Intelligence (AI), with participation from 15 countries and regions. A key highlight shared during the event was that 80% of showcased innovations demonstrated commercial potential, signalling a strong shift from research to real-world impact.

Gracing the event, YB Tuan Chang Lih Kang, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), emphasised that AI, combined with STEAM education, is shaping the way we live, learn, and innovate. He noted that AI will amplify human creativity, empathy, and curiosity, which form the critical traits for turning knowledge into transformative solutions.
