Career Connect in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Business (FOB), recently hosted two impactful editions of the Inspirational Sharing Session (I³) series. These back-to-back sessions aimed to broaden students’ horizons by offering real-world insights that go beyond academic knowledge.
On 9 June, the session titled “More Than a Degree: How I Built My Confidence, Network, and Purpose” was held at the Executive Seminar Room, MMU Melaka. It featured MMU alumna Ms. Tan Yar Ling, Co-founder of Clusters Link Ent Sdn. Bhd., who inspired attendees with her journey from university graduate to successful entrepreneur. Her candid sharing focused on the importance of building confidence, nurturing meaningful professional relationships, and discovering personal purpose. Students actively engaged throughout the session, gaining practical advice and motivation to pursue their own career aspirations with clarity and conviction.
The following day, on 10 June, the I³ series continued with a session titled “Corporate Governance in Malaysia and Singapore: The Similarities and Differences”. This event welcomed two distinguished speakers from Pioneer Management Services Pte Ltd, Singapore — Ms. Mona Low, Managing Director, and Ms. Tham Suit Fun, Director of International Tax. Drawing from their extensive experience, the speakers shared a comparative overview of governance practices in both countries, highlighting key regulatory frameworks, compliance standards, and cultural influences. The session attracted a diverse audience of students, academicians, and professionals who benefited from the dynamic exchange of ideas and an engaging Q&A segment that explored real-world applications and cross-border business challenges.
Both sessions were well-received and demonstrated MMU’s commitment to enriching student development through exposure to industry expertise and experiential learning. The I³ series continues to serve as a vital platform for students to gain inspiration, build networks, and prepare for future success in an ever-evolving professional landscape.
