The Faculty of Management (FOM) recently hosted an engaging and eye-opening Financial Literacy Talk titled “Low Salary, Big Dreams: How Fresh Grads Can Achieve Financial Goals?” in May 2025. The session was part of FOM’s initiative to prepare students for real-world financial challenges as they transition from university to working life.

The invited speaker, Mr. Lewis Lew, a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and Islamic Financial Planner (IFP), captivated the audience with practical strategies and motivational insights tailored to fresh graduates navigating their early financial journeys. With his credentials recognised by the Financial Planning Association of Malaysia (FPAM), and as a Licensed Financial Planner by the Securities Commission Malaysia and Financial Adviser Representative (FAR) by Bank Negara Malaysia, Mr. Lew brought with him a wealth of knowledge and real-world experience.

During the session, Mr. Lew addressed the common financial concerns of young professionals, including managing low starting salaries, budgeting, saving, and setting realistic financial goals. He shared effective tips on cultivating disciplined money habits, avoiding debt traps, and planning for long-term financial independence even at the beginning of one’s career.

The session was coordinated by Mdm Zarehan Selamat and Mdm Hezlin Harris of FOM, as part of the faculty’s ongoing efforts to prepare students for life beyond the classroom. By integrating financial literacy into student development initiatives, FOM aims to foster confident, financially responsible graduates.

FOM extends its sincere appreciation to Mr. Lewis Lew for his impactful contribution. The talk served as a timely reminder that with the right mindset and tools, even small steps today can lead to big financial wins tomorrow.
