An insightful and engaging session featuring Mr. Ahmad Farouk Ahmad Fauzi, Executive of Corporate Sustainability at PETRONAS, took place in May 2025. Mr. Farouk, who currently serves as the Industry Learning Partner (ILP) for the Digital Transformation Strategy course (a Year 3 subject), led a thought-provoking discussion on the intersection of sustainability and leadership in today’s digitally driven world.
The session provided students with a unique opportunity to learn from real-world corporate experiences and understand how transformative leadership can drive systemic change in both business and society. It emphasised the importance of sustainability leadership, introduced practical tools for evolving beyond conventional leadership models, and highlighted traits essential for leading sustainable transformation.
What truly set this session apart was its interactive format, the real-life insights from a respected corporate sustainability expert, and the integration of global sustainability frameworks such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement.
The session not only raised awareness of sustainability in leadership among undergraduates but also inspired students to reflect on their own leadership styles and embrace a changemaker mindset through sustainable thinking. The talk session was coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Lilian Anthonysamy from the Faculty of Management (FOM).
