On 29 May 2025, an engaging talk titled “Workplace Ethics: Navigating Integrity and Accountability” was delivered by Mr. Syed Mustaqim Syed Yusoff, Head of the People Department at IX Telecom. The session was part of the Inspirational Sharing Session (I³) series and was organised by Career Connect in collaboration with the Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FIST).

Approximately 140 students from FIST attended the session as part of their Ethics subject, gaining valuable insights into how integrity and accountability play a crucial role in shaping a trustworthy and professional work environment.

Mr. Syed began his talk by defining workplace ethics as the moral principles and guidelines that influence how individuals and organisations behave at work. These include honesty, respect, fairness, and compliance with laws and regulations. He emphasised that strong workplace ethics foster a positive and productive environment built on shared values.

A central highlight of the session was the emphasis on integrity and accountability as two key values essential for career growth. Mr. Syed described integrity as “doing what’s right even when no one is watching,” and accountability as “owning your actions and decisions.” These, he stressed, are the foundation of any successful professional relationship.

The session was also iCadet Certified, allowing students to earn career development points while gaining real-world professional insight. Overall, the event served as a powerful reminder that while technical skills may get you hired; it is ethics and integrity that sustain a lasting and meaningful career.
