The King Sejong Institute (KSI) MMU Melaka recently hosted 20 students from SMK Krubong and SMK Bukit Rambai for the Korean Beginner 1A course as part of the KSI MMU Regular Korean Class in May 2025. Conducted in a hybrid format, combining face-to-face and online learning, this weekly Thursday class offers secondary school students’ early exposure to university-style education, specifically in Korean language and culture.

The programme is led by Dr. Ong Sue Lyn, Director of LIfE, Ms. Kim Hee Jung, Manager of KSI MMU Melaka, with Ms. Tai Pei Ping serving as the lecturer in charge. It supports the university’s outreach and marketing efforts by sparking interest among younger students in exploring global languages and considering MMU for their future education. The course also aims to foster greater cultural understanding while equipping students with basic communication skills in Korean.

Plans are underway to expand the programme to include intermediate and advanced levels, providing structured progression for interested learners. In addition to language classes, students will be encouraged to participate in upcoming KSI cultural events, further enriching their learning experience and strengthening ties between the university and the community.
