Four students from the Faculty of Management (FOM) participated in the SAP ERPsim Student Competition 2025 APJ Cup on 11 April 2025. Led by Ang Kheng Yen, together with teammates Emanuel Phirasit Santa Maria, Chow Jing Yang, and Goh You Bin, the team showcased their business acumen, SAP ERP skills, and determination in developing both technical proficiency and strategic decision-making abilities under real-world business scenarios.

The competition brought together university teams from across the APJ region to compete using real-time SAP ERP systems in a simulated business environment. In the earlier round, the team emerged as one of the Top 4 in the Rest of APJ region, advancing to the Global Final Round alongside 16 other top university teams.

The ERPsim simulation required each team to manage a virtual company in a highly competitive market. Over several rounds, teams were tasked with making crucial decisions involving procurement, production planning, sales forecasting, pricing strategies, marketing investments, and financial analysis. These decisions had to be made in real time, under the pressure of dynamic market conditions and limited resources.

Our MMU team adopted a balanced approach—strategically investing in marketing while optimising production and minimising stockouts. Using real-time analytics, they continuously adapted their strategy to respond to market demands, competitor actions, and supply chain disruptions.

Although the competition was intense, with highly experienced and strong teams, the experience was immensely rewarding. Despite not securing a spot among the top three in the final, our MMU team ranked among the top-performing teams in our region. Most importantly, our students gained valuable real-world ERP skills and a deeper understanding of integrated business processes.
